A handful of excellent stages even go one step further by paying tribute to some key games themselves — expect gaming history nerds to go positively feral over them. Team Asobi further drills down on the toy-like charm of gaming by fully committing to the DualSense’s unique features. I feel pronounced haptic feedback when I hop into a stormy level and feel each raindrop in my palms. When I turn into a metal ball to stop a ceiling from crushing me, I can feel the resistance of the adaptive triggers pushing back on me.
What Are All Special Bots In Astro Bot? Deacon St John – Brave Biker
These additions enrich the gameplay while further establishing Astro as a character. Seeing Astro take out and play his PS One or being frightened to death in a horror-themed stage adds to his charm in classic mascot character fashion. As the PS5 is still a platform with a relatively mature audience, Sony likely doesn’t have the intention to cement Astro as the system’s one and only mascot. A new iconic character representing your brand through top-quality games couldn’t possibly be a bad thing. Especially since a family-friendly 3D platformer like Astro Bot is also the type of game that the PlayStation’s library has been lacking. The ever-growing install base of the PS5 has allowed many players around the world to enjoy Astro’s Playroom.
Grab the snowball from them and roll it around until it gets nice and big. Then look for a wall that has two little blocks on the side and an open spot in the middle. The door to the ruin will now open, and you’ll see the disco ball floating above. In Bathhouse Battle, you’ll find the secret exit about midway through the level. TG88 in Go-Go Archipelago doesn’t appear until after you defeat the boss at the end of the level. Use the ladybug to reach where the seal used to be and use your charged melee to dig into the pillar.
Jaster Rogue – Rogue Galaxy
After rescuing the two Rising Heat Cameo Bots, players will be able to procure items for them from the Gatcha Lab at the Crash Site. Cayde-6 gets a Hand Cannon and Light Partner, while Wesker gets a Viral Vial. One of Astro Bot’s hidden trophies is called “The Lost Eggacy”. To unlock this trophy, you need to find all three Golden Egg “artifacts” on the Dude Raiding world of Serpent Starway. The Dude Raiding level unlocks after you defeat the final boss of Serpent Starway, Lady Venomara.
You can find the Golden Butterfly at the very back of the Apes On The Loose level, in a bush to the right of the sky bridge where you find Sky-Walking Ape Special Bot. Papa Tree will start singing, but you’re still technically on the Dual Speeder. So, hold down the right and left triggers (R2 and L2) to continue spraying water onto Papa Tree’s face during his song.
While fairly uncomplicated, this narrative table-setting serves as an effective foundation for the adventure to come, as Astro visits various unique and exciting planets across several solar systems. However, Astro Bot elevates itself from its two predecessors, proving once and for all that PlayStation’s relatively new platforming series deserves to be mentioned among the greats of the genre. After acquiring the balloon power-up, backtrack to the previous platform and float to the opposite side. In the beginning of the stage, immediately knock out the ladybug and use it as a trampoline to get onto the pillar to the left, the puzzle piece will be found here. After getting the balloon power up from the huge robot, immediately use it to get to the robot’s head to find the hidden bot.
They fit in perfectly with the game’s vibe and atmosphere, which is really hard to find a fault as it even uses the DualSense speakers impeccably. It’s been quite a rough few weeks for Sony and PlayStation fans out there, and it’s great to know that it’s not all doom and gloom as Astro Bot is here to save the day. As a casual fan of platformers, Astro Bot blew me away and reminded me of the nostalgia and fun that is to be had with the genre. The last time to do this was Nintendo’s Super Mario Odyssey, which is a very high standard to beat or match in recent years.
I won’t spoil who gets the star treatment here, aside from one – the previously revealed Kratos. His introduction sees you wield his ice-infused Leviathan axe and take on the role of the exiled Spartan himself in a thrilling change of pace, the frosty blade boomeranging around the level. It’s here where Astro Bot becomes truly magical, elegantly blending nostalgia with new ideas. Such moments essentially let you play these iconic games in miniature, lending Astro their powers and letting him loose in a level entirely built around familiar stories and settings, soundtracked by remixes of heroic themes. They’re charming and often the real highlight of the experience.
